An Express Builder in Business and Family - A Case Study

by Dr. Vanity Barr-Little

“How do you do it all?”

This is a question I often get from people who see me juggling multiple responsibilities—leading businesses, managing a busy household with four boys, and continuing to grow and evolve in both my personal and professional life. The answer lies in the unique energy of being an Express Builder.

Harnessing the power of being an Express Builder allows me to manage multiple roles without feeling overwhelmed.

I have followed the conventional advice to “niche down”—to focus on one thing, master it, and make that my key to success. But through my own experience and BG5® experiment, I’ve discovered something vital about myself: I thrive in variety. As an Express Builder, my energy isn’t confined, and Express Builders excel when they allow themselves to respond to what life presents. With this knowledge, I’ve developed passions from opportunities I’ve responded. The key for me has been in not choosing just one thing, but in aligning with what energizes me--whether it’s making an impact, starting a new business, or creating additional revenue streams from one of my existing businesses.

In the past, I felt the pressure to "go out and make things happen" but I’ve since learned that this isn’t how I’m designed to operate as an Express Builder. It’s not about doing more just for the sake of it—it’s about correctly applying the generative power of channel 34-20, where awareness must become deed (action). By responding to the right opportunities and staying in tune with my own energy and recognizing Express Builder key indicators, I’m able to be effective without burning out.

Strength 34-20 is where awareness must become deed (action).

Express Builders are known for their ability to manage several projects simultaneously, and this is where I thrive. Whether I’m developing new programs, overseeing operations across multiple businesses, or managing a busy household, my ability to navigate these responsibilities comes from harnessing the power of being an Express Builder.

As an Express Builder, it’s about leveraging your natural energy and strengths for sustainable progress.

One of the most important lessons I’ve learned, and perhaps one of the most challenging aspects of having the strength of 34-20 in my design, is the discipline to apply my energy where it counts. This channel connects raw power (34) with the ability to act in the moment (20), but it’s easy to fall into the trap of trying to do it all or doing too much at once or doing things that really don’t matter. I’ve learned to focus on what really needs my attention and to let go of the pressure of societal expectation. The ability to recognize when something is aligned with my energy, and when it isn’t, has been critical to maintaining clarity, avoiding overwhelm, and staying true to my purpose.

The Answer to “How Do I Do It All?”

The answer to “How do I do it all?” lies in harnessing the natural energy of being an Express Builder. By understanding my unique design and applying the principles of Strategy and Authority, I am able to lead multiple businesses, raise a family, and continue growing—both personally and professionally—with clarity and purpose.
