Transforming Pressure & Stress into the Fuel for Success

Under Pressure
Transforming Pressure and Stress into the Fuel for Success

As I write this, I keep hearing Freddy Mercury & David Bowie in my head singing:

Pressure, pushing down on me,
pressing down on you, no man ask for.
Under pressure that burns a building down,
splits a family in two, puts people on streets.

It’s the terror of knowing what this world is about.
Watching some good friends screaming, “let me out”.
Tomorrow gets me higher.
Pressure on people, people on streets.

Chippin’ around, kick my brains around the floor.
These are the days, it never rains but it pours.

People on streets.
People on streets.

It’s the terror of knowing what this world is about.
Watching some good friends screaming, “let me out”.
Tomorrow gets me higher, higher, high!
Pressure on people, people on streets.

Turned away from it all like a blind man.
Sat on a fence, but it don’t work.
Keep comin’ up with love, but it’s so slashed and torn.
Why, why, why?

Love (love, love, love, love).
Insanity laughs, under pressure we’re cracking.

Can’t we give ourselves one more chance?
Why can’t we give love that one more chance?
Why can’t we give love, give love, give love, give love,
give love, give love, give love, give love, give love.
‘Cause love’s such an old fashioned word,
and love dares you to care for the people on the
edge of the night, and love dares you to
change our way of caring about ourselves.
This is our last dance.
This is ourselves.

Under pressure.
Under pressure.
Pressure.

Not much has changed since they recorded that in the 80’s, if anything we’re under more pressure than ever. So many options, so many demands put on us – internally & externally. Maybe those demands have always been there, but in this fast-paced digital world where the expectation to respond instantly to every text, email, and request for information is implied if not overtly explicit, it sure feels like the pressure has intensified.

With this increasing pressure – that is not only coming from expectations, shadows, distractions and conditioning of individuals and groups – but also from the collective mutation that is happening in humanity as we move towards 2027, it’s becoming even more crucial that we, as individuals, know how to discern where the pressure is coming from, and how to make choices that are correct for us.

The ‘root’ of all this pressure is in the Drive & Stamina Function. And whether you have this function defined or not, you are susceptible to it – albeit in different ways.

While Drive & Stamina, along with the Inspiration Function are both pressurized, they are unique in that they are not part of our Decision-Making Strategy.  That said, they are extremely influential in HOW we use our Decision-Making Strategy and in that way, they are a part of every choice we make.

When you are aware of the pressure, where it comes from, how you respond to it, and have discernment, your life changes. It changes because you make hundreds of choices in a given day – some of them small and seemingly inconsequential, some quite large with dramatic consequences.

  • Is it pressure from within?
  • Is it pressure from a family member, boss, child, or neighbor?
  • Is it collective pressure?
Your Design can guide you to what is correct and in alignment for you, but only when you have discernment about where the pressure is coming from.

Here’s the thing, we aren’t going to be rid of the pressure. It’s like trying to be rid of breathing! But you can work with the pressure, in your own unique way, based on YOUR design, just like you would have the awareness that your breathing had become shallow and you were holding the stress in your body. With that awareness, you take a deep breath and let go of…the pressure.
