"I loved the 2nd semester of the BG5 Foundation course!
Initially I feared that, as the group was much larger, it would lead to great dispersion. There were a lot of sharing, but they substantially enriched the training, as we heard in the 'first hand' how such different designs are experienced in real life.
Michael is incredible as a teacher! He always found diverse and motivating strategies to teach the contents, and he always managed to work at the big picture level, focused in teaching the WHYs and the HOWs more than the WHATs... and both things made learning much easier and fun. He was also very generous in sharing his materials, pre-recorded videos, etc., which enriched the learning process and the students.
The workload is higher in the second semester. By using more practical pedagogical strategies, it meant we had to invest more time before the sessions. I loved the methodology, and to manage expectations of students, I suggest that new students are informed that they will have to spend 2 hours in classes + 2/3 hours outside classes. But the methodology for me was very good, worth all the minutes I had to invest in studying outside of class.
It was an excellent idea to create a WhatsApp group that brought the group together, as we are people with such different backgrounds, ages, experiences, countries and even very different time zones.
A word also to Iva, our assistant, who always accompanied us in such a graceful, empathetic and professional way, also facilitating learning.
The experience was so enriching that I signed up for the next 3 semesters of certification, wanting to continue with Michael as a teacher, and I am very happy because the majority of the class will follow the certification path.
The forum is, for me, a privileged way to learn, and it would be interesting to encourage students to continue publishing their homework, which are reflections on how they experience design, from which I learn from a different perspective, a more practical on.
And also a thanks to Alina and Sara, 'office faces' that handled all the bureaucracy throughout the process (including residence certificates).
